Ticker Insight Privacy Policy

Last Updated: September 27, 2026 • Application: Ticker Insight • Developer: CODJIN • Package: com.fmlabs.tickerinsight

This Privacy Policy explains how CODJIN (“we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, uses, shares, stores, and protects information when you use Ticker Insight (“the App”). Ticker Insight is an independent stock analysis, financial metrics, and market intelligence application. Ticker Insight is not a broker-dealer, brokerage firm, investment adviser, or trade execution service.

Quick Summary for Users & Reviewers
Zero Brokerage/Banking Credentials: We never request, collect, or store your bank accounts, brokerage credentials, or trading PINs.
Cloud Sync with Local Cache: Watchlists and preferences are cached locally in SQLite (Room) for high speed and synced securely to Supabase under Row Level Security.
Auto-Pruned Search History: Stock searches are limited to your 20 most recent queries and can be deleted individually or wiped completely.
Transparent Store Compliance: All third-party services (Supabase, FMP, Google AdMob, Firebase, Google Play, Apple App Store) are fully disclosed below.

1. Overview & Scope

This Privacy Policy applies specifically to the Ticker Insight mobile application across supported platforms (Android and iOS), its connected backend services, and any related product-specific pages.

Product-Specific Policy: This policy governs solely Ticker Insight. Because different CODJIN products fulfill different purposes and implement different architectures, each CODJIN application has its own dedicated Privacy Policy describing its actual data practices. This policy does not apply to other CODJIN applications (such as Multi Calculator or The Brief) or third-party websites you may visit through external links.

2. Information We Collect

Depending on how you use Ticker Insight, we collect the following categories of information:

A. Account & Authentication Information

When you register for an account in Ticker Insight, authentication is powered by Supabase Auth. We collect:

  • Email Address: Used as your primary account identifier and to send verification and password reset emails.
  • Full Name / Display Name: Stored in your user profile for personalizing your in-app experience.
  • Profile Photo (Optional): If you choose to upload an avatar, the image file is compressed and stored in a dedicated Supabase Storage bucket (avatars).
  • Unique User Identifier (UUID): A randomly generated identifier created by Supabase Auth to isolate your database records under Row Level Security.
  • Password Protection: Passwords are cryptographically hashed and salted by Supabase Auth using standard industry algorithms. CODJIN never has access to or stores your plaintext password.

Note on Third-Party Sign-In: If third-party authentication (such as Sign in with Apple or Google Sign-In) is configured in future releases, authentication tokens are verified by Supabase Auth according to your provider selections. Ticker Insight does not receive or store your Google or Apple master account password.

B. Watchlists & Portfolio Trackers

When you add stocks or securities to your watchlists, the application records:

  • Ticker symbol (e.g., AAPL, MSFT, TSLA, ^GSPC), company name, and exchange.
  • Watchlist names and custom ordering indices.

Storage Architecture: Ticker Insight stores your watchlist selections locally on your device in a Room SQLite database for immediate, zero-latency access offline. Where cloud synchronization is enabled, watchlists are associated with your authenticated account in Supabase (watchlists and watchlist_items tables) under strict Row Level Security so they sync seamlessly across your supported devices.

C. Price-Target Alerts

If you configure target price alerts, we store the security symbol, target price, alert condition (above or below), and trigger status in Supabase under your user ID to verify whether market price thresholds have been crossed and deliver notifications.

D. Search History (Auto-Pruned)

When you search for ticker symbols or companies, the query string is saved to provide a convenient “Recent Searches” list.

  • 20-Item Limit: Search history is strictly capped at a maximum of 20 items per user. When an item is added beyond 20, older search records are automatically deleted via automated server-side database triggers and client auto-pruning.
  • User Deletion: You can delete any individual search query or clear your entire search history at any time directly within the search view.

E. User Preferences & Settings

We store your application preferences:

  • Visual theme preference (SYSTEM, LIGHT, or DARK).
  • Country preference (e.g. US, IN, AU, UK, CA, EU) used to highlight regional market indices and macro calendar events.
  • Push notification enablement toggle (notifications_enabled).
  • Default market selection and chart display settings.

Preferences are stored on-device in Android DataStore / Room preferences and synchronized with your Supabase account record (user_preferences table).

F. Device & Technical Diagnostics

When the App communicates with our servers, technical telemetry necessary to maintain connection stability is processed, such as device model, OS version, application build number, language, network connectivity state, and anonymous error stack traces when unexpected runtime exceptions occur.

3. Information We Do NOT Collect

Because Ticker Insight is an informational analysis and charting tool—and not a brokerage, custodial financial institution, or trade execution service—we maintain a strict data minimization perimeter. We NEVER request, collect, or store:

  • Brokerage Account Logins & Trading Passwords: Ticker Insight does not integrate with trade execution APIs. We do not ask for or store credentials for Robinhood, Charles Schwab, Fidelity, Zerodha, Interactive Brokers, or any other brokerage account.
  • Bank Account & Financial Account Numbers: We do not collect bank account numbers, routing numbers, account balances, or financial PINs.
  • Credit / Debit Card Credentials: All subscription billing is handled exclusively by the Google Play Store or Apple App Store. CODJIN never sees or processes your payment card numbers.
  • Government-Issued Identification: We do not collect Social Security Numbers (SSN), Tax IDs, PAN numbers, or passport numbers.
  • Precise GPS Geolocation: We do not access or track GPS coordinates. Country selections are manually chosen by the user in settings or inferred from general device locale.
  • Contacts, Microphone, or Camera: The App does not request access to your address book, microphone, or camera.

4. Market & Financial Data

Ticker Insight displays market data, financial ratios, stock quotes, and corporate fundamentals provided by Financial Modeling Prep (FMP).

Categories of Market Information Retrieved:

  • Real-time and intraday stock prices, historical daily charts, and trading volume.
  • Company profiles, sector and industry classifications, market capitalization, and stock peers.
  • SEC financial filings: balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Valuation metrics, P/E ratios, key performance indicators, analyst price targets, and upgrades/downgrades.
  • Corporate actions: dividend history, stock splits, earnings announcement dates, and economic calendar schedules.

Query Privacy via Server-Side Proxy: To protect your device security and maintain high responsiveness, all financial market queries are routed through our secure Supabase Edge Function reverse proxy (fmp-proxy). Outgoing requests to Financial Modeling Prep include only the requested ticker symbol, timeframe, or screener parameters. Financial Modeling Prep does not receive your account profile, personal email, or user identifiers.

5. News & Supplementary Feeds

Ticker Insight aggregates market headlines and corporate news updates to help users follow market developments. News content is retrieved from external syndication partners and CODJIN's news service (The Brief).

  • News queries send only public ticker symbols or broad market categories (e.g. “Technology”, “Economy”) necessary to retrieve related articles.
  • Ticker Insight does not own third-party news reporting. When viewing full external publisher articles, you may be redirected to the original publisher's website or webview, which operates under its own distinct privacy policies and cookies practices.

6. AI-Powered Features

Ticker Insight incorporates backend architecture to support AI-assisted stock summaries, financial breakdowns, and metric explanations.

What Information Is Processed for AI Features:

When an AI analysis request is generated, processed inputs are limited strictly to publicly available data points: the requested stock ticker symbol, public financial statements, ratios, and any specific question or prompt you submit.

  • Quota & Usage Tracking: To protect server resources and prevent abuse, daily AI request quotas are monitored in the Supabase database (ai_usage table: Free tier: 5 requests/day; Pro Monthly: 100 requests/day; Enterprise: 10,000 requests/day).
  • No Proprietary Model Training: Information submitted for financial analysis is not used by CODJIN or third-party AI providers to train public foundation models without explicit authorization.
AI Accuracy & Financial Disclaimer

AI-generated content may be inaccurate, incomplete, outdated, or unsuitable for your specific circumstances. AI features are provided for informational and educational purposes only and should never be relied upon as personalized financial, investment, legal, or tax advice.

7. Advertising & Google AdMob

To support free access to market tools, Ticker Insight displays advertisements through Google AdMob and the Google Mobile Ads SDK.

Information Processed for Advertising:

Google AdMob may collect and process information in accordance with Google's privacy policies, including:

  • IP address (used to infer general coarse location for regional ad delivery and fraud prevention).
  • Device advertising identifiers (Google Advertising ID on Android, IDFA on iOS where permitted).
  • App interaction metrics, ad impression records, and diagnostic crash data.

Consent Management in the EEA, UK & Switzerland: In jurisdictions where legal consent is required (under the GDPR and ePrivacy Directive), Ticker Insight integrates Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) to present a compliant consent dialog on initial launch. Users can choose between personalized advertising, non-personalized advertising, or manage vendor consents.

For complete details on how Google processes advertising data, please review: How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services

8. Firebase Analytics

Ticker Insight uses Firebase Analytics (Google LLC) to measure app stability, feature engagement, and performance.

Data Categories Processed:

  • App instance identifiers and installation tokens.
  • Device model, operating system version, screen resolution, and language settings.
  • Aggregated feature interactions (e.g. screen views, watchlist creation, chart timeframe selections).
  • Crash traces, ANR (Application Not Responding) diagnostics, and network latency reports.
Analytics Data Minimization Guarantee:

Analytics event parameters never contain your email address, personal passwords, account credentials, bank records, or precise coordinates. Telemetry data is utilized solely for technical debugging, user experience enhancement, and product stability.

9. iOS Advertising & App Tracking Transparency

On Apple iOS devices, Ticker Insight respects Apple's privacy requirements and App Tracking Transparency (ATT) framework.

Apple defines “tracking” as linking user or device data collected from our app with third-party data from other companies' apps, websites, or offline properties for targeted advertising or advertising measurement. If advertising personalization requiring ATT permission is enabled in an iOS build, you will be presented with the system prompt: “Ask App not to Track” vs. “Allow”. If you decline, Ticker Insight instructs the Google Mobile Ads SDK not to request the IDFA, and only non-personalized or contextual advertisements will be served.

10. Your Privacy Choices & In-App Controls

You maintain direct control over how your information is handled within Ticker Insight:

Push Notifications

Toggle push notifications on or off at any time in Profile > Push Notifications or through your device's operating system settings.

Search History Control

Remove individual queries by clicking the delete icon next to any search, or clear your entire search history with a single tap.

Advertising ID Settings

Reset or delete your Google Advertising ID on Android (Settings > Google > Ads) or toggle tracking on iOS (Settings > Privacy > Tracking).

Local Device Storage

Wipe all cached SQLite database tables and local preferences by clearing app data in your phone settings or uninstalling the app.

11. Subscriptions & In-App Purchases

Ticker Insight offers optional subscription plans:

  • Free Plan: Standard access to quotes, charts, watchlists, search history, and 5 daily AI requests.
  • Pro Monthly Plan: Expanded quotas (100 daily AI requests), premium screener filters, and advanced metrics.
  • Enterprise Yearly Plan: High-volume research capabilities, enterprise quota (10,000 daily AI requests), and priority support.

Payment Processing & Billing Records:

All financial transactions, payment card processing, renewals, and cancellations are handled entirely by Google Play Billing (for Android) or the Apple App Store / StoreKit (for iOS) under their respective terms and privacy policies.

To validate your entitlements, our backend records your plan tier (FREE, PRO_MONTHLY, ENTERPRISE_YEARLY), subscription status (ACTIVE, EXPIRED, CANCELLED, TRIAL), store provider, purchase token, and expiration timestamp in Supabase (subscriptions table).

12. Push Notifications & Price Alerts

Ticker Insight delivers notifications for:

  • Price Target Alerts: Triggered when a stock on your alert list reaches your specified target price.
  • Market Open/Close & Macro Events: Scheduled market status updates and high-impact economic indicators based on your selected country.
  • Watchlist News Alerts: Major corporate announcements regarding stocks on your active watchlist.
  • System Announcements: Essential account and maintenance notices.

Delivery Mechanism: Realtime notifications are coordinated via Supabase Realtime WebSocket streams (notifications table) and dispatched through native platform notification channels (POST_NOTIFICATIONS on Android 13+ and iOS UserNotifications). You can opt out at any time in Profile Settings or in system notification settings.

13. Local Storage & Device Caching

To ensure lightning-fast chart rendering and smooth offline browsing, Ticker Insight utilizes on-device local storage:

  • Room SQLite Database: Caches your watchlists, watchlist items, user preferences, and profile metadata locally so the app opens instantly even without an active internet connection.
  • Android DataStore / iOS Defaults: Preserves theme preferences (Dark/Light/System) and country market configurations.
  • Image & HTTP Network Cache: Company logos and chart thumbnails are temporarily cached on device using Coil image loading to minimize data usage.

Locally cached records remain on your device until refreshed by cloud sync, wiped via your device settings (“Clear Storage”), or removed by uninstalling the application.

16. Data Retention Practices

We retain information only for as long as reasonably necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this policy:

  • Account Profile & Watchlists: Maintained in active database records for as long as your account remains active. If you delete your account, your profile, watchlists, watchlist items, alerts, and preferences are permanently deleted.
  • Search History: Automatically capped at a maximum of 20 queries; queries beyond the 20th are purged immediately by database triggers. Users can clear this entire table manually at any time.
  • Notifications & Alerts: Notifications remain visible in your inbox until dismissed or marked as read; stale broadcast notifications are periodically pruned.
  • Subscription Records: Subscription tokens and validation receipts are retained for the duration of the subscription and for mandatory accounting/tax verification periods required by law.
  • Analytics Telemetry: Firebase Analytics retains event data for up to 14 months according to standard Google analytics retention windows, after which it is automatically aggregated or deleted.
  • Local On-Device Cache: Persists on your hardware until overwritten, deleted via device settings (“Clear Data”), or when the app is uninstalled.

17. Account Deletion & Data Removal

In compliance with Google Play Account Deletion requirements and global privacy laws, users have the right to request full deletion of their Ticker Insight account and all associated cloud data.

How to Delete Your Account:

You can request account deletion through either of the following mechanisms:

  1. By Direct Email Request (Immediate Processing): Email our Privacy Team at privacy@codjin.com or support@codjin.com with the subject “Delete Ticker Insight Account” from your registered account email. Our team will verify ownership and permanently delete your account within 30 days.
  2. In-App Settings: An automated one-tap deletion flow under Profile > Account & Security > Delete Account is scheduled in our app updates to provide direct in-app self-service deletion.

What Happens When Your Account Is Deleted:

Deleting your account triggers an automated cascading delete across our Supabase infrastructure:

  • Your entry in auth.users is permanently purged.
  • All linked rows in profiles, watchlists, watchlist_items, alerts, search_history, user_preferences, and notifications are cascade-deleted immediately.
  • Any avatar image stored in Supabase Storage is permanently deleted.

Note on Store Subscriptions: Deleting your Ticker Insight account does not automatically cancel an active Google Play or Apple App Store recurring billing subscription. You must cancel active auto-renewing subscriptions directly in your Google Play Store or Apple ID account subscriptions manager.

18. Security Safeguards

We implement reasonable technical, operational, and organizational security measures to protect your information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or alteration:

  • Transport Layer Security (TLS/HTTPS): All network communications between the mobile application, Supabase backend, and financial data proxies are encrypted using modern TLS (HTTPS) protocols.
  • Row Level Security (RLS): Every Supabase database table enforces PostgreSQL Row Level Security. Authenticated users can only read, modify, or delete records matching their authenticated user ID (auth.uid() = user_id).
  • Separation of Credentials: The mobile application client embeds only publishable anonymous API keys. High-privilege service-role keys and financial data provider API secrets reside exclusively inside secure Supabase Edge Function environment variables.
  • Password Hashing: User passwords are never handled in cleartext and are securely hashed and managed by Supabase Auth.

Please note that while we employ rigorous industry-standard safeguards, no digital system or internet transmission is 100% immune from security threats. We encourage users to maintain unique passwords and secure their mobile devices.

19. International Data Transfers

Ticker Insight is available to global users across multiple countries. Our cloud servers and third-party infrastructure providers (such as Supabase, Google Cloud, and AWS) operate data centers located in the United States and other global regions.

If you access Ticker Insight from outside the United States, your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in jurisdictions where data protection laws may differ from those of your home country. We ensure that our infrastructure service providers maintain appropriate legal and technical transfer safeguards where required by law.

To submit a verifiable consumer request under California or state privacy law, contact us at privacy@codjin.com.

22. Children's Privacy

Ticker Insight is an informational stock analysis tool designed for adult investors and individuals of legal investing age. If we discover that a child under 13 has registered an account or provided personal data, we will immediately take steps to permanently delete the account and its associated records.
